Coffee capsules are today one of the most used methods in the world for preparing coffee. It's about plastic containers and plastic, weighing about 3 grams which contain a single dose of coffee which is between 6 and 10 grams depending on the model of capsule.
These capsules keep the coffee sealed and not exposed to the air, thus sealing all the aromas inside them and the properties of coffee. Furthermore, thanks to the method of dispensing the water during preparation, the extraction of the coffee is much more efficient than that typical of the moka.
Capsules and Coffee Machines
The coffee capsules have a defined and standard shape depending on their manufacturer. The capsules, in fact, are produced to be used exclusively with the coffee machine that has the right system: let's give some examples. For the Nespresso coffee machines they can only be used Nespresso capsule, For Lavazza Blue coffee machines they can only be used the Lavazza Blue capsules and so on for all the other brands. But why? The capsules, depending on their manufacturer, have a shape, weight and coffee blend different from the others. If you try to use a Bialetti capsule in an Illy coffee machine, you run the risk of ruining the machine.
Compatible Capsules
Compatible capsules are coffee capsules that have the same characteristics as the original ones and which therefore can be used without damaging the machine. However, they have a different blend of coffee from the original one, thus allowing the consumer to try many more blends than those offered for sale by the brand of the coffee machine. If we want to try a different coffee and we have a Nespresso machine, we will just have to buy some capsules compatible with Nespresso, to have capsules of the same shape as the original ones, but with a different coffee. There are quality coffees compatible with all coffee machines: capsules compatible with A Modo Mio o compatible with Dolce Gusto, the list goes on.
Original and Compatible Capsules: What Changes?
The question that may come to mind at this point is: what changes? The answer is simple: the blend and the cost. Actually, the term original capsules is incorrect, as there are coffee companies that make coffee pods without necessarily having to be categorized as sub-brand or non-original. Indeed, they are dedicated only to the production of capsules, without however marketing their own coffee machine, which can be seen as one valorisation of their product. What changes is only the blend: the compatible capsules are not copies of the originals and they don't want to be! Their aim is to offer different blends to buyers, to satisfy everyone's tastes, which do not necessarily fall within those offered by the brand of the coffee machine. Sometimes even the cost can be lower, but the quality is guaranteed!
